My favorite observation about this whole thing came from FReeper Dr. Franklin:

Gaetz and company disrupted the entire GOP line of succession in the House. They hate him for that, but its what the party base wants.
The "new guard" threw out the way that the "old guard" elevated people through seniority into leadership positions that freezes everyone else out. This practice effectively institutionalized the rot that metastasizes over time as the old-timers grew and strengthened their little fiefdoms within the caucus.

Now we have to find the "Gaetz" of the Senate.

Ok here is a plan. Gaetz runs for Senate in FLA and wins. Then he creates chaos there. Love to see that.

Well, it also demonstrates that the base of the party has changed, and demanded this. The Republicans always courted working class people, but didn't govern for them. The "Reagan Democrats" voted for him more because of social issues than economics. In time, those working class people became Trump's MAGA movement. The elites hate that he actually governed for them, and didn't just con them to get their votes. Speaker Johnson is much better aligned with Trump and MAGA, and that is what the base of the party wants from their congressional leadership.

Now we have to find the "Gaetz" of the Senate.

The Senate, by design, is more resistant to change than the House. However, Senators are easier to unseat than representatives, if we can get clean elections. Bag a few big RINOs, and they will become more responsive to the base, especially in an election cycle.
