When we wind up with a speaker that isn’t part of the establishment out of this, you can claim some sort of victory, in the mean time looks like all that’s going to happen is some rearrangement of the deck chairs when its all said and done.

Wind up with another establishment speaker, who may even wind up having to negotiate with democrats to win the vote... Or possibly even worse yet, a few establishment R’s just say F it and vote for the Dem to be speaker... so please, don’t give me some grand hero act nonsense of this whole joke of a fiasco.

McCarthy was the only one opposed to the unanimous consent in the Republican caucus to name Johnson as Speaker.

My guess is that McCarthy was trying to weasel his way back into the Speaker position.

McCarthy refusal to fund great candidates who wouldn’t kiss his ass almost kept the GOP from winning the House. Best example of a candidate he undermined is Joe Kent in WA-3.
