One other thing. The ballots have President AND Vice President on it. It would require a write in VP candidate. Trump would have to express his desire for a running mate. Misspellings on either names could negate the vote.

I don’t think that problem would arise. In most states that allow write-ins, the prospective write-in candidate must, before the election, give the state a list of electors. That way, if the write-in candidate wins, the state knows who’s entitled to cast ballots on December 14.
So we just write in Donald J. Trump. His chosen electors will then vote for his VP candidate.
