Since Shaken Baby Syndrome is real, I question the wisdom of violently whacking one’s brains against the cranial wall. Perhaps one isn’t angry anymore because the grey matter has gone numb. ;)
Most of the most demonic people I know (leftists) aren’t into heavy metal at all. Also if you listen to most of the heavy metal lyrics much of it is a commentary on the ills and injustices of our society. Much of of it comes across as evil but it reflects the raw emotion and frustations of the people who embrace it. Plus its the best cruising music IMO. I kinda grew up on it starting with Kiss. My 2 avorites are probably Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Saw them all live in the 80’s in their heyday.
I’m old-fashioned. I like a melody and lyrics I can understand which means metal/heavy metal and most rap/hip hop songs will be studiously avoided. The artwork on many of the metal bands’ music if fairly indicative that they have some involvement with Satanism, even if they just think it makes them look cool and rebellious.
King Crimson (especially the middle iterations) ….
I wonder how many of those JP fans knew about Rob Halford at the time?
They did a follow-up of some of the folks from the Heavy Metal Parking Lot video about 10 years ago, I think it’s still on YT somewhere.
In 1986, likely very few of those in the parking lot saw the Judas Priest television appearances that predated British Steel.
Someone from the Judas Priest organization was very smart to re-release the older videos in the MetalWorks set after Rob Halford came out of the closet in the early 1990s. "Don't say we hid anything - it's right there in the 1970s videos if you cared to watch them - flowing chiffon clothes and everything."
I think music choices are reflections of the individual.
I’ve listened to heavy metal on and off for years. The Master of Puppets album by Metallica has a ton of biblical references. The Black Album by Metallica was a massive hit.
Symphony of Destruction by Megadeath is about the return of Christ. Post-American World is a warning about the New World Order.
There’s heavy metal and black metal. Black metal is specifically satanic and has no redeeming value whatsoever. I refuse to listen to it.
That being said, I also enjoy a lot of different music: opera, classical, country, rock and roll, alternative, punk, and lots of music from other countries (Italy and India in particular).
Ball of Confusion, originally recorded by the Temptations in 1970, and later covered by Love and Rockets 1986 is still relevant today.
Hurt by Johnny Cash is regarded as one of his most powerful music videos and introduced him to a whole new legion of young fans. It was recorded shortly before he died (if you have not seen it, please do. Have tissues handy). What some people don’t know is that it was originally written by the lead singer of 9 Inch Nails and was about drug addiction. Johnny Cash’s performance gave it an entirely different, poignant meaning and even 9 Inch Nails said it was now his song.
Heavy Metal is not for everyone, but it would be helpful to learn a little about it before subscribing attributes to it that may not be correct.
If you need a dose of ear bleach, look up Roc Chen’s moving instrumental called The Light on the Royal Nirvana album (available on youtube). Just beautiful.
He left out Symphonic Metal, which is very different from a lot of other forms of Metal.
The whole album, “Hydra” from Within Tempation is excellent, so don’t knock it until you’ve heard it.
I like many genres of music, though I do listen to various forms of Metal most often. A lot of European bands, and a lot of it symphonic and orchestral.
Music can definitely influence your mental state and behavior. I listen to all kinds but mostly favor rock from the 60’s, 70’s and blues. I use to listen to heavy metal, rap, electronic, jd club mixes, etc and some of the darker mood music really can effect you big time. I stay away from that now.
I’ve never heard of Symphonic Metal. Thank you for the link, I’ll check it out.
That link features Nightwish’s former lead singer Tarja Turunen, which is more operatic in nature. There’s also Leave’s Eyes (Norwegian) and Evanescence (USA).
Within Temptation is from the Netherlands.
He is indeed
His rib and my rib know each other
I can attest to his pretty outspoken right wing nature
And God fearing too
Higher prevalence of our people in metal than any other music possibly
Pissing while lying on your back this one
The Warning are absolute legends.
I honestly haven;t been into any new music since the 1990’s. I haven’t been so “into” a band since I was a 1980’s teenager discovering the magical combination of Led Zeppelin and Marijuana— They are destined for greatness. Somehow the song “money” started playing on youtube for me and I just sunk in and got hooked.
They are beyond amazing.
Saxon is by far my favorite they have tons of releases and still doing it since the late 70’s.
You know where you are going! : )
THE SIMPSONS: CHEAT STEAL and LISTEN To HEAVY METAL MUSIC!

Agreed.
It’s very dark and chaotic.

If you were willing to risk life and limb as part of a 1970’s General Admission audience on the Main Floor at the Silverdome (The Who, Led Zeppelin, etc.), you were not a rock and roller per se’, you were just another good fan of Rock & Roll music. If you thought that “Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll and the End of the World” should apply to you, you had another thing coming because the reality of it was that Rock & Roll had you by the balls.
