Yes. They’re indispensable for practice/marksmanship at very low ammo cost plus capable of taking any size game up through their highest available calibers.

There is 0 regulation on them and just about everything you can think of that’s prohibited outside of extra licenses and permits on firearms is allowed on them (full auto, suppressors, short barrels, etc…)

I’m partial currently to pre charged pneumatic (PCP, what I compete with) but there are really good spring guns out there up to 20/22 cal and I noticed that there’s a nice pump rifle out now that Teds Holdover has a video review on (find via pyramid air).

The accuracy of competition guns is sick, I literally can shoot flys at 30-40 yards with mine 🤠

Nuh uh, really? I got one of those salt guns to shoot flies at 30-40 inches.

dang...the prices on some of those are insane.

check your state requirements.

Illinois state law treats certain air guns as non-powder burning firearms and makes the purchases, possession and transfers of these air guns identical to traditional powder burning firearms.

exceptions:

- if an air gun is a pneumatic, spring, BB or paintball gun that expels a single spherical projectile not exceding .18″ in diameter or
- has a muzzle velocity that does not excede 700 feet per second or
- expels a breakable paint ball containing washable marking colors, then the air gun is not considered a a non-powder burning firearm.
