By the time they’re cheap enough to buy, the tech will be outdated... Besides... Nothing beats the internal combustion engine for longevity. Model T’s are still on the road... That can’t be said for the first electric vehicle ever made.

No thanks. Using up all the electricity means house not cool in summer and cool in winter. Too expensive to replace batteries and who wants to buy a used EV?

In addition too many cases of Fire.

You can heat your home with a burning Tesla.

I think this defines “cheap enough to buy” actually.

But I’m still waiting, for them to get even cheaper…

🙂

Electric engines have very long lives and require minuscule maintenance. It is the batteries that are the problem.

Done one purpose to get people to buy these worthless coal powered cars.

LOL

That reminds me of something I learned from one of my students in my first year of teaching. Build a man a fire, and he’ll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he’ll be warm for a life time.

Sounds something akin to hydrogen dirigibles. The Hindenburg only had one real major flaw.

“Other than that one small issue, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?” :-)

So just the batteries. Like ... the things that make the car GO?

A little like, “Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?”

EV Batteries With 932-Mile Range

Right... after the one 932 mile trip, replace the battery.

True that. Along with the Dims jacking up gas prices. If we use year 2019 gas and electricity prices in Alabama as a model, an EV would be practical if you drive at least 15K or more miles per year. I chose Alabama prices because that's what I'm familiar with. I chose year 2019 because that's the last realistic year IMHO to use as a standard (3 years of Trump lowering energy prices, but before covid dropped demand for gas).
