For home defense, Shotgun with #4 Buckshot. It will destroy anybody or thing in front of it up to 25” away, and you won’t have to worry about it killing your neighbors when any of the pellets go through your wall.
Yes. I bought #4 for just this purpose. I put 8 shots on a target at 25 yards. The results were impressive.
At about 35 yards, I shot 12ga 00 buckshot at 18ga steel and it just dented it and bounced off like BB’s. Winchester MilSpec. Not sure if that was good or not so good. Used Winchester Defender 1300 with 18.5” barrel and also tried it with an 870 with a 10” barrel.
Correction: 20” barrel, not 10”.

But it takes a lot more spackle to patch the holes!
