I think this is where Carlson is. He's too full of himself, thinking he has influence and authority, and mad at everyone who disregards him. The difference is 30 years later the corruption is worse.

Buchanan’s speech at the ‘92 convention was great. He went after Bubba and Hitlery, talked about freedom and the greatness of America. What was wrong with that? Buchanan was a formidable opponent for Dad Bush. He certainly would have been a better President.
