You have a very interesting point. Diplomacy calling for a cease fire is basically mindless chatter to appease the useful idiots. There is a good chance Russia wants this war in hopes it will somehow take heat off of the Uke war.
All we need now is something to happen in Asia, and BANG! Off to WWIII.
