You mean when Israel was granted to the HEBREWS. They had a specific lineage, lived specific areas and also were offered salvation along with the rest of humanity. Some chose it, others not.
The people there now are not them at all - by their own writings, and from the very scripture you quote. They have no salvation without Christ and and are no more Godly - in Christianity - than the Moslems who surround them.
