Not to mention that they are trying to put electrical equipment in a highly corrosive salt water environment. What could possibly go wrong?

I had buddies that worked off shore on the rigs whose job title was chipping paint and painting. Same rig all shift, day in and day out.

They don’t. Aside from the Hurricanes anyone who has every kept a boat in salt water can tell all the jokes about the the cost of ownership versus the cost to purchase. The maintenance and upkeep means they will never be viable. The people who are in this business know this and are looking for massive subsidies to make it work out business wise.
