The Tory bigwigs say he is welcome and Nigel now says he's open to it.
Commentators say he could/would win if he ran for leader once a member of the party.
This seems a good fit.
For those wondering Nigel can’t just “run” for Prime Minister he has to be in one of the two main parties.
First thing would be to parachute him into a safe district.
Someone would have to resign triggering a Special election then he’d run in that district and with some luck become a Member of Parliament.
He has tried a few times as an independent or part of his own party but it’s near impossible similar to US system.
Once a Member of Parliament he can run for leader and be appointed by the King as Prime Minister.
The other option is to put him in the House of Lords (upper chamber/Senate) which is wholly by appointment.
The PM can theoretically come from either House but its not been done like this for a long time and seems a bit undemocratic.
I’m thinking he’s indirectly laying out his terms for re-joining, which would be a UK-First party, and if the Tories aren’t ready for that now, then having them spanked in the next election might make them more open to reform.
