McHenry can not do anything about Ukraine or the budget.
As speaker pro tempore, he can only recognize speaker nominations, adjourn the chamber, or recess the house. He can not advance any legislation whatsoever.
Attacking him for not doing something about Ukraine, the budget or any other legislative item is just silly and shows a lack of understanding of how the government works.
So there are also 208 Democrats who also not in the uniparty?
All 208 Democrats in attendance voted against McCarthy. Not a single Democrat voted in favor of keeping him as House speaker
This is game theory. RINOs vote for mccarthy to keep their PAC money flowing into their pockets, democrats are ok with mccarthy because they can buy him off and still get some of what they want but would rather someone on their side as speaker so they can get all of what they want instead.
The 8 are part of neither group. They voted to get mccarthy out because he votes with democrats 45% of the time (there is the “some” part) and they hope to get the RINOs to maybe vote for a speaker who will vote less with democrats.
And that is how it works.
And furthermore, the 8 can keep voting against any RINO speaker candidate (like they did 15 times against mccarthy) that the 200 other republicans want because they know all democrats will always vote as a block against any republican.
In short, the 8 can hold the rest of the house republican party hostage and this creates a space for negotiation.
Reality is that the next speaker will be in an even weaker negotiating position vs the democrats.
As to voting, Repubs only control 1/3 of the government and with these idiotic 8 bomb throwers, it was a very tenuous majority
Sure, until the rest have had enough, and cut a deal with the house democrats.

Good point.
What’s their SPECIFIC plan via legislation to reduce the debt, curb entitlement spending, etc?
Re: 43 - a link that McCarthy votes with Dems 45% of the time?
The Dems like turmoil among Republicans. Dems have no principles, it’s all about having power. McCarthy cut a deal with the Democrats, then they screwed him on the Speaker vote. Let that be a lesson to all.
Why not Boebert?
I get that MTG and KM have a “special” relationship so am not surprised about her. I am surprised about Boebert, though
If go with the one with the most backbone. That would be Gaetz. He really read them the riot act yesterday.
I like Burchett, too. (My Congress critter until we moved in July.) But I’m not sure how consistent he would be in holding firm against the RATs.
“With Mace it is all about ambition.”
She’s been pretty good the last couple of months, but I don’t trust her over the long run. A huge part of her constituency is lib, and she’d be straddling the fence most of the time. (IMO)
“...Gaetz was his fondness for teenage tail. Or is that a conservative value?”
You’ve gotta keep up. Long ago that was proven to be a lie, fabricated the same way the Russian Collusion Hoax was fabricated.
SOTH does not have to be a member of Congress.
This is why you need the next speaker to be from Texas. In order to win the White House, Republicans need Texas. Whoever the rep, if he or she is from Texas, there will be room for negotiations on policy.
“He should have KEPT HIS PROMISES. It’s that simple and AN EXAMPLE HAS BEEN SET.”

That’s the truth. From what I understand, he thought he would just lie and then betray. He was assured his betrayal would be covered by Nancy Pelosi’s support, but she lied to him...bunch of friggin’ liars.
And I know Bob Good. He’s my Congressional Representative. A good man and great conservative.
