To: Tell It Right

I applied for a government job in D.C. once. I got no points for being a veteran. When I said i was Cherokee I was told that Native Americans are not a recognized minority group. The interviewer told me that if I was a black female with a hispanic surname it would tick three boxes and regardless of qualifications she’d hire me in a minute. As it turns out I was fortunate to not get the job. The old “One door closes, another opens” scenario.

Yeah Veterans points. When they actually tested individuals for G jobs, the civil service commission ran testing. If you were a vet, you were given some points toward your final score, I think 5 for honorable discharge no disability.

Of course that would not fly today as most of the morons applying for jobs would probably not pass those pre hire tests. No, the hiring process is rigged for the diversity crap. Makes me sick.
