Well, let’s see - the Super Cub (with wheels) will lift about 750-800#. Less with those biga$$ tundra tires. Soooo, 500# meat + 200# pilot doesn’t leave much for “combustible” (as my South American friends call avgas). Avgas weighs about 6# per gallon. Do the math.
Antlers on the struts = no big deal.
I am not a pilot but I know enough that weight is a very important consideration when flying. My first thought on reading the story was that the plane had more weight then the plane could handle.
What is that saying, there are old pilots and there are bold pilots but there are very few bold old pilots.
