Things are getting curiouser and curiouser.
Item One:
This one is REALLY bad news for Xi Jinping.
The CCP military song 'forward, forward, forward' was changed to 'lie flat, lie flat, lie flat'; 'treading on the great land of the motherland' became 'lying on the great land of the motherland'; 'bearing the hopes of the nation' changed to 'no longer caring about the hopes of the mation'; 'towards the sun' became 'basking in the sun'; 'never surrender, bravely fighting' transformed into 'never making an effort, resolutely lying flat'.
'Tang Ping' or 'lying flat' is a Chinese slang neologism that describes a personal rejection of societal pressures to overwork and over-achieve. 'Lying flat' is the Chinese version of nonviolent non-cooperation. While it falls under passive resistance, it is also the most cost effective, least resistant, easiest to promote, and most standardized form of nonviolent civil resistance. That this is coming from someone in the military speaks volumes.
Public responses include things like 'Who is this talented?' and 'If the military comprehends this and refuses to obey, no longer serves as tools for the CCP, the CCP will collapse.'
Item Two:
Youth unemployment, already bad, seems to be getting worse. More than half of this year's college under and post graduate students from the University of Shanghai remain unemployed. U of S is one of the most prestigious schools in the PRC.
Item Three:
Chinese seem to be busily driving up the price of real estate, wait for it, in JAPAN. Not just as investments but as residences. Japan was the number one foreign destination for travel during this year's National Day/ Autumn Festival period.
