Ahhhh yes, the "In" crowd. Didn't like it when I was a teen, still don't like it now. Doing something because it's what everyone's doing.
Way back in High School, we chose, by vote, our class song - "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. But the "in" crowd wanted the "Theme from Mahogany" by Diana Ross (aka "Do You Know Where You're Going To"). Well, Free Bird won the vote soundly, but guess which piece they played at our commencement - yep, the Theme from Mahogany.
My first lesson in politics.
Argh! And the “In-Crowders” have absolutely no clue why so many people reject them out-of-hand.
Had a buddy long ago who was originally from Middlesbrough (England), and a fanatic about “Free Bird”. Pretty cool that a foreigner had such an affinity with the quintessential American song.
It might be able to suck more...but I can't imagine how.
Same here, our student body voted for Free Bird but The Long and Winding Road became the class song.
