One supposes the response to this American musician trying to further a career by traveling to Ukraine might refer to ( or conflict with ) Romans 1, part of the Christian canon.

We attended the baptism and chrismation of a local Methodist minister and his wife about 6 months ago,

You have to understand that the Russian Orthodox are a culture of their own. And they have prophecies and beliefs and for most of them, being nuked is not the worst thing.

The Orthodox beliefs vary strongly from westernized versions of Christianity. Christ was a victor, not a victim.
There are entire books about how Russian culture is still strongly Orthodox, language, etc.
