So, personally, Putin had, for years, every reason to see a threat building.
All that, after the West mocked Putin, by signing with him on Two Minsk Agreements (which no American has bothered to read) and that Merkel openly admitted signed only to stall for time, never meant to be upheld, in order that UKR could pretend it would turn itself into a big old Military threat against Russia, with a little help from its friends. $150B later the US used UKR as its proxy warriors and destroyed the male population.
