Both Zelinsky and Putin use their respective Orthodox Churches as propaganda arms while their people suffer. What we are seeing in Eastern Europe is the same type of issue we see in Africa, borders are arbitrarily made without proper consideration to history, language, or ethnicity. Just look at Moldova, their primary language is Romanian but the eastern region of Transnistria is ethnically Russian by identity and language. The same issue arose in Yugoslavia. People were forced into one nation even though they spoke multiple languages and had different faiths.
If you want a more peaceful example look at Catalonia in Spain.
