“I started an organization to clean a polluted local creek. The last few years the water has been remarkably clear.”
Good for you! Back when I was a kid that was the big thing in school. I even have a letter that I wrote (class project) to President Nixon to clean up the environment.
We needed the EPA to get rules and enforcement to clean things up. But it has gone from banning dumping of motor oil into rivers to banning .02% of CO2 or whatever the number is. I had an old boss complain about some new EPA rule with a limit of 0.5 ppm of some chemical. “The instruments can only measure down to 2 ppm!”
The one thing I remember was a series of photos from a mountain roadside in Colorado. First there was a little trash, then larger piles of trash, and then a refrigerator and mattress as it became a mini-dump. That’s a pretty good analogy for leftists: They start wrecking something and if they aren’t shut down when small, they’ll eventually turn it into a dump.
