Wait, I thought the blond haired kid abracadaba’d him.
Or was it Hans Gruber, before pushing him off that Nakatome tower thing?
Yeah, this comment is recycled.

I would have guessed him older than 82. Even at 82, he outlived the first Dumbledore by 10 years.

“Same goes for any Tolkien movies.”
You are missing out. Peter Jackson was truly inspired during his making of The Lord of The Rings trilogy, and was completely immersed in Tolkien’s writings.
I think Tolkien himself would be taken back by it.
You can do yourself another favor and watch Peter Jackson’s “They Shall Not Grow Old” which was Jackson’s historically and theatrically amazing refurbishing of old WWI video footage.
All of his work is thoroughly amazing.

Yes! Damn shame the show only lasted two seasons. Gambon was magnificent, perfectly capturing the essence and nuance of Maigret. He is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed. Requiescat in pace, Monsieur Gambon.

Have you seen the remake yet with Rowan Atkinson (Black Adder) playing Inspector Maigret? I took a chance and watched it, and I was extremely pleasantly surprised to see Rowan Atkinson playing the part very convincingly.

Recently saw video of the man who filmed They Shall Not Grow Old, the clip where the young soldier clinging his teeth (my guess, not over 15 years old) was taken right before the first day of the Somme they would be in the first wave of troops going over the top.

Actually, it was Snape who did the deed in “Harry Potter.”
Ironically, the same actor (Alan Richman) played Hans Gruber in “Die Hard.”
He is another actor now sadly gone.

Yeap. We’ve seen Atkinson’s take on Maigret on BritBox. The episodes are quite good with great production values and he’s convincing in the role. Regrettably, it’s like watching any other actor play Sherlock Holmes other than Jeremy Brett. Michael Gambon owned that role. Ever since I introduced my wife to “Layer Cake,” she’s wanted to watch him in everything save for Harry Potter, which we never got into. If I want fantasy, I’ll watch Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Too bad.
They are incredibly well made, and good entertainment as well.
