The reason Hollywierd gave American Beauty the Oscar is because the movie blasts away at white middle class family structure and makes an ex marine the bad guy.
It hits all of the right negative buttons (wrongly) and that’s what the POS leftists loved about it.
I really liked the ending. I couldn’t watch the whole thing again, but the last few minutes with him explaining death as seconds going to infinity and looking down no the city and remembering his grandmother’s skin was pretty brilliant.
That gay subplot, the general pedo theme, and that damn drug dealing boyfriend character that did the bag scene were true late 90s dreck.
Sixth Sense or Being John Malkovich were so much better and stand up to the test of time too.
