The FIRST remake ( which was a disaster and a hodge podge ) starred Bette Davis.

Satan Meet A Lady was the title for it and it was played as a comedy some as well.

The original Maltese Falcon was played more straight and without the Hayes code and wasn’t bad, but the 1941 Maltese falcon was the best.
