Yes it absolutely was; though the quasi remake was FIRST a Broadway musical, which the second film was a film version of. Ergo, do we count the stage play as the remake and the film as the SECOND remake, or shall we judge them differently?

That's WHY I didn't include the musical version.

But there are now FOUR movie versions of the first remake ( the best version ) of A STAR IS BORN...none of these later musical movies were ever a stage play.

Ditto for one later version of THE WOMEN.
