I stayed in Denver when the Packers played there in 2015 and stayed at a Super 8. It’s not all that bad, just stay away from Colfax Ave, that’s the longest in the country.
In 73 I lived in an apqrtment building at 1200 block east colfax.
Right above Sid Kings strip club.
Lots of violence with knives...lots with guns now
ah, Colfax Avenue....I remember it fondly....we were moving out to Washington from NY and stopped in Denver and went west from there....Colfax Ave back then...talking 45 yrs ago...was extremely long and I was impressed that there were 3 Mcdonalds along the way.....

I’m surprised to hear Colfax Ave and Aurora singled out as being bad. I’d heard that Denver had declined greatly, though, since I was there over half a century ago. I used to ride my bicycle downtown along Colfax Ave with no concern at all. There was a park on the right that had a pond and a museum of natural history. It seemed like a nice place. There were some areas, I believe, near the railroad station around Larimer Street that seemed a bit like a slum, though.
