I favor a radical redesign:
Ten cents
Twenty-five cents
Fifty Cents
One Dollar
Two Dollars
Five Dollars
Ten cents
Twenty-five cents
Fifty Cents
One Dollar
Two Dollars
Five Dollars
I favor a 1-2-5-10 progression.
Coins
1¢
2¢
5¢
10¢
20¢
50¢
Notes
$1
$2
$5
$10
$20
$50
$100
$200
$500
$1000
Of course this would require a revaluing of the dollar, and actual backing of the money, and balanced budgets.
A feller can dream can't he?

probably have to keep the nickel, or there would be issues getting exact change. If they did .10, .20, .50, 1, 2, 5, I'd be ok with it. Given what inflation has done to us, it would probably make sense to just stick with .25, .50, 1, 2, 5. drop everything lower than a quarter, since you really can't buy squat with less than that.
