Drama, Action & Adventure
Revolutionary War adventure focusing on real-life South Carolina patriot Francis Marion, a role Mel Gibson re-created some four decades later in ‘The Patriot.’ Two series (eight episodes in all) aired on ‘Walt Disney Presents,’ one in 1959, the other in 1960-61, but it didn’t come close to matching the success of Disney’s Davy Crockett series. Written by TV action veteran Lewis R. Foster (’The Adventures of Jim Bowie,’ ‘Zorro’). Star Leslie Nielsen also sang the theme song.

Never even knew that show existed. They stopped producing it the year I was born.
I have however read quite a few books on American history with a side in world history based on the topic I'm trying to fill the whole from my original school history indoctrination. Examples include but not limited to books on the Founding Fathers (together and separately), the Constitution, the. Bill of Rights, the Federalist papers, the Pacific during pre-WWII through Korea, the History of the World from the beginning through 1648, “American History in Black and White” just to name a few. I'm currently reading a book I bought at Mount Vernon a couple years back called “Crucible of War”. It's about the seven years war leading up to the revolution and sets the stage for all the discontent. It also explains a lot about what happened the Indian tribes inhabiting the area around the lakes and to the west of each of the “colonies” (states).
It’s always fascinating to school people on the history they don’t know. My favorite is the fact that some prominent families of color in Louisiana actually had and supported slavery even during the Civil War. I also like to remind them that the Colored Tribes of Africa where the ones providing the captives to the buyers in Africa before they were shipped around the globe. Not to mention what the African nations and the Arabs did to the white Europeans they enslaved after capturing them. Those statements always get a shocked look and a lot of silence afterwards about the topic.
My Dad beat it into my head: “If you don’t learn your History, you’re doomed to repeat it.” as a teenager.
Sorry, morning brain fart.
