I found working with Russians and Ukrainians to be nearly intolerable. Almost to a man (and woman) they were dishonest, callous, scheming and always looking to make a buck on the side, any way possible. To them, it seemed that everything was for sale - and I mean everything. They were real matter of fact about that too. Ugh. And then, there were the obscene levels of alcoholic inebriation. . . an opened bottle of Vodka must always be emptied to the last, vile drop. . .
Shortly before I arrived at Bagram AFB to head a project there, the military cops there busted up a huge prostitution ring. Guess who was running and staffing it? If you said Slovenians, Russians and Ukrainians you'd be correct.
I never trusted a single one of the Eastern Europeans on my crew. Because they could not be trusted.
