Is there a research college in your area? If so, see what they do with the old equipment whenever they upgrade. Some of them sell it. The local university nearest me has freeze-dryers 2-3 times a year up for sale.

That’s a very good idea. I will tell my daughter - she is good at sniffing out stuff like that, and knows more about them than I do.

I must say, it was interesting to watch her pack dehydrated carrots and other veggies in those Mylar bags today. They just sat there and all of the air got sucked out of them, or into them, or wherever it goes, until they looked vacuum sealed. Fascinating.
