I visited my sister in England several times when she was doing her Masters there and I was working in the Middle East. More than once, we boarded an early morning train to somewhere like Yorkshire or to Holyhead to catch a ferry to Dublin. We tended to be a little bleary, having had a few pints the night before and looked forward to the bacon “sarnies” we could get in the dining car.

They weren’t anything to write home about, but they did the trick at the time, coupled with the right amount of coffee. And they did not have ketchup on them. Eeeww.

The recipe reminds me of the Bacon Butty sandwiches in the UK. Exact same ingredients.

I guess the ketchup is replacing tomato and butter replacing lettuce in BLT?
