The New Mexico governor’s statement on outlawing firearm carrying will be plastered all over the 2024 election coverage, as will the disastrous Afghanistan pullout, $2 trillion dollar budget deficit, Maui fires, hundreds of billions to Ukraine, illegal immigrants, piss poor economy, and on and on and on.
They had better worry.

No, it’s not. Remember the 2020 election, and 2016. Gun control was a non-issue. That was ON PURPOSE as the Democrats know it is a losing issue for them, for now.
So, given the reaction here, what the Democrats are OBVIOUSLY doing is laying low regarding gun control, kind of nibbling at the edges, but not doing much more - all the while they build up their forces, particularly judges and election rigging. But when they reach that critical mass - it will be GAME OVER for gun owners, and trust me, if the Dems fully control government ,they then have all the tools they need to PERMANENTLY end gun ownership in the US (I list a few of those tools on my home page).
So the Dems are to do NOTHING at this time to give ammo to Republicans pointing out that they’re gun-grabbers. The Dems will be perfectly happy to let us know that, once they know they cannot be stopped.
So also don’t think, for a minute, that the Democrats have finally discovered that the US has a Constitution - they WILL NEVER feel they need to follow it, as those rules are only meant to limit what CONSERVATIVES can do.

And, bless their hearts, they just can’t help themselves; they ALWAYS overreach. It’s a satan thing.

Technically true...but the hold outs will be a small percentage, and as the screws are turned, that will turn into a tiny percentage, with the absolute count so small that the government will simply wait them out until they make a mistake - such as letting their wife or girlfriend know they have a gun, or mentioning it to a co-worker, etc.
You have constructed, and are selling, a fearful scenario of the future. Your fearful scenario is not implausible. But it’s not certain either. It’s one possible outcome.
There are other plausible outcomes, too. I am believing into more of a FAITHful scenario for America’s “near” future, “near” being defined by a couple generations. I believe that apart from the material realm, indeed SUPERIOR to the material realm — there is a metaphysical (spiritual, if you prefer) realm that is at work “always” (i.e. outside of time). Therefore I do not fear, but rather pray in faith and believe in faith that I have what I pray for.

So, yes, she is over reaching. Now. It’s just too early to tip their hand.

I’d be a bit more optimistic if there ANY HISTORY of a Western Government, or even a US state, standing up to government tyranny.
So, no, it won’t happen - we’ll he herded as the sheep were in New Zealand and as the Truckers were dealt with in Canada. Central governments simply have TOO MUCH POWER now and the ONLY way to stop them is to prevent those with the evil intentions from getting control of that power.
