Stories like this are so hard. Someone dies.

My brother died in a tragic auto accident back in 2001. After a week in a coma, they pulled the plug and his organs were harvested.

His heart was donated to a 50 year old + individual whose life was saved in the interim and I have a copy of his thank you letter to our family.

Unfortunately, due to confidentially laws, I've never been able to indentify him and inquire on how he is doing today...........Hope he is still alive.

Over two years ago I received a new liver, after being on the waiting list for four years. I wrote a letter of thanks to the family of the donor and expressed my condolences, my gratitude, and my wish to someday meet them and learn about who my donor was. Not surprisingly, I haven’t heard from them.

I give thanks to God for my new liver, but someone died and his/her loved ones mourned and lost that person forever. It’s a sobering reminder that I live with every day.
