Good way to end the day.

Always need a tiny reminder of exactly Who is in charge before we rest our head.

A "Broken China" ping.

If you want on or off the ping list send me a FReepMail.

I haven't done a Broken China post in a few days. I was getting over saturated with it. So here goes something.

In the late summer every year, the CCP big wigs, hold a conference at Beidaihe. Beidaihe is a seaside resort on the Bohai sea. This is China's Jersey Shore.

This year the party Elders, those retired from major positions in the CCP, held their own conference before some of them went to meet with Xi Jinping at Beidaihe. The gist of their message to Xi was that if the social, political, and economic turmoil continues without any effective countermeasures being taken, the party could lose public support, posing a threat to its rule. We can not have more turmoil the Elders pointed out. I this this is a day late and an Yuan short.

Supposedly Xi vented his frustration with his three predecessors, Deng Xaioping, Jaing Zemin, and Hu Jintao. He can't very well blame Mao for anything so he had to stop there. I think the Elders are more concerned with insuring they don't lose their cushy existence than anything else.

Xi is very paranoid, but just because you are paranoid it doesn't mean people aren't out to get you. There are MANY in the CCP that would like Xi out of power. He has stepped on a LOT of toes in his 'reform' efforts that cemented him in control of the CCP.

It is believed that the REAL reason Xi didn't go to the G20 summit in India is that he might not be in power when he returns. This has happened twice before. Nobody died. They got a comfortable, controlled life, but they were out of power and influence in the running of the PRC.

As I have stated before, Xi is very superstitious. There is a Tang dynasty, circa 7th century, book of prophecy called Tui bei tu. Think of it as a Chinese Nostradamus. In it is the following painting of five birds.

The birds are believed to be the five leaders of the CCP, Mao, Deng, Jiang, Hu, and Xi. The first four fly over the mountain, thought to represent the difficulties faced by the leaders. The fifth, a white bird, crashes into the mountain and dies. White is an unlucky color in China and is associated with death & funerals. The Character for Xi's name is the combination of the characters for 'wing' and 'white'. You can see why some think this refers to Xi.

One last note. The CCP is now encouraging members of the military to marry and have at least 3 children. They recognize their demographic trouble. This announcement was generally derided online.
