Probably truth. It’s their M.O.

Look at their tactical priorities: First they took out VP Spiro Agnew who would have been a real threat to them if he had ascended with Nixon’s removal. Then Agnew was replaced with Gerald Ford, not a threat to them. THEN and only then, Nixon was pushed into resignation.

The Deep State didn't take out Agnew. He took himself out by resigning instead of fighting the corruption charges that had been leveled against him. Given his feisty rhetoric during Nixon's first term, many of his supporters were shocked at his meek resignation , saying, "Agnew just isn't being Agnew."

Nixon, not the Deep State, chose Ford as his vice president. And it was not the Deep State but Barry Goldwater--Mr. Conservative himself--who finally convinced Nixon to resign when he said that he would vote to convict him at the impending impeachment trial.

“Then Agnew was replaced with Gerald Ford, not a threat to them.”

Gerald Ford, who had already participated in the Warren Commission cover up. In other words, a known reliable pawn who wouldn’t betray them, because if he did, he’d take himself down along with them.
