We are facing a new phase in the war between Ukraine and Russia. Incredibly, Kiev is simultaneously pursuing its offensive plans on both the eastern and southern front lines. While the Russians are focusing more on the Ukrainian breakthroughs on the southern front lines, Kiev is making its main offensive moves in the east of the country these days. In fact, this tactic is very distracting for the Russians.
As you may recall, for a long time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been launching serious offensive offensives in the direction of Zaporizhia and Kherson, centered on the Dnipro River. In a critical period of about two weeks, Ukrainian troops seized the initiative in important settlements such as Robotyne and Urozhaine in Zaporizhia. In Kherson, the Russians faced heavy Ukrainian pressure. Here every day we see Ukrainian naval units landing boats in the direction of Kherson and on the islands in this region.
While the Russians were struggling with such offensive actions in the south, the most important news of the last days came from eastern Ukraine. Kiev has completely changed its offensive plans in eastern Ukraine and started to apply a brand new strategic tactic. Ukrainian troops have started targeting Russian military surveillance systems, radio transmitters and intelligence equipment, especially in the Bakhmut direction and along the Kharkiv border.
In this way, the Ukrainians wanted to slow down the intelligence work of the Russian troops in the Donetsk and Kharkiv directions in order to launch their own offensive plans. To this end, Ukrainian soldiers, as well as Belarusian volunteers, have been supporting Kiev’s offensive plans to target Russian intelligence sources. Recently, in the direction of Bakhmut, Belarusian volunteer units carried out an unbelievable offensive operation. Soldiers of the Volat battalion of the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment discovered two Russian observation posts in the Bakhmut direction. The superior reconnaissance and combat skills of the Belarusian volunteer fighters came to the fore.
The Volat Special Operations forces of the regiment secretly discovered the Russian observation posts and reported that they blew up both Russian observation posts with ATGM anti-tank missiles from a distance of 300 meters. Also, in a video released by the Belarusian Regiment, the military commander showed what the combat mission of an ATGM unit looks like from start to finish. So there was concrete evidence of this stunning operation. After this critical offensive operation in the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops faced serious difficulties in terms of intelligence sources. This caused the Russians to go on the defensive on other front lines in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continued to carry out serious offensive actions on the Bakhmut flanks as well as on other front lines. As part of a new strategy defined by Kiev, Ukrainian troops this time targeted Russian surveillance facilities, radio receivers and intelligence sources along the Kharkiv border lines. As you know, the Kharkiv border lines and the Belarus-Ukraine-Russia border have been very active in recent days. The Ukrainians were expecting a Russian-backed offensive action from the Belarusians. That’s why there is military activity along the entire Belarusian-Ukrainian border all the way to the Kharkiv border.
Taking this into account, Kiev has made a strategic move to prevent the Russians from providing intelligence to Belarusian troops on the Kharkiv front line and to reduce Russian attacks in this area. Recently, the Steel Border Brigade, a unit of the Ukrainian Border Guard, launched a daring attack on Russian long-range surveillance facilities in Kharkiv. In this critical offensive operation, the soldiers of the Steel Border Assault Brigade used drones to destroy the Russian Murom-M surveillance facility.
The Russians have been actively using this surveillance facility since March this year. These long-range visual surveillance devices are capable of autonomously intercepting enemy manpower and equipment. The complex is equipped with an optical camera with good zoom that can distinguish a person at a distance of up to 10 km, as well as a thermal imager that detects a car at a distance of 8 km and people at a distance of 4 km.

I wish you health, dear Ukrainians!
At the end of the week, I would like to say a few things.
First, Ukraine has become stronger. We have new agreements with our partners on defense packages. And, by the way, today in a conversation with French President Macron, we discussed what new supplies can help our warriors. We discussed the protection of our Odesa region - what France can do to protect Odesa and the region. And there is a very important agreement on training our pilots in France - our coalition of modern fighters is getting more powerful. There are significant things that we are doing in Ukraine to protect us every week more and more intensively. This includes our weapons - from artillery and shells to drones and missiles... This also applies to our unity. In particular, unity in rejecting everything and everyone that weakens Ukraine.
Secondly, we are constantly proving that we can do things together that seem fantastic to the rest of the world, but work in reality when Ukrainians take them on. Four ships have already passed through our new, alternative sea corridor from our southern seaports. And we are working with our partners around the world to restore the normal operation of the Grain Corridor, which has ensured and should ensure food security on a global scale. I thank everyone who is helping with this.
Third, Ukraine has to achieve several very specific results in the coming months. In particular, it is our strategic political goal to launch membership negotiations with the European Union. Ukraine has seven specific recommendations from the European Commission. We have already implemented some of them. The other part requires effective work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Timely work, which we have agreed with the European Commission. The law on the restoration of electronic declaration, amendments to the law on national minorities, and, I would like to draw special attention to it, the law on PEPs - politically exposed persons. Each of these laws is of fundamental importance. And voting on them will be of fundamental importance. People will see who is worth what. And I urge Ukrainian MPs not to postpone these decisions, not to let Ukraine down, and to support our European integration.
One more thing is very important.
This week, the Parliament will be offered to make a personnel decision. I want to outline it now. I have decided to replace the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. Oleksiy Reznikov has gone through more than 550 days of full-scale war. I believe that the Ministry needs new approaches and other formats of interaction with both the military and society at large. Now Rustem Umerov should lead the Ministry. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine knows this person well, and Mr. Umerov does not need any additional introductions. I expect the Parliament to support this candidate.
Autumn is a time for strengthening.
Glory to Ukraine!
