“Shoppers also will have to present their receipts to an employee before exiting the store.”
Shoplifters, on the other hand, won’t.
“Shoplifters, on the other hand, won’t.”
As a law-abiding person, I HATE having my receipt checked at the exit moments after I just paid the cashier. So I just walk right by the person doing the checking. They don’t do anything.
Lot of good checking receipts will do. Talk about a feel-good, useless nostrum.
I refuse to show my receipt on constitutional grounds. 4th Amendment recognizes my right to be secure in my property and papers.
Legal title to my groceries transfers to me when I purchase it, not when I leave the store.
That’s pathetic. Shoppers have to show a receipt while shoplifters do indeed walk out unscathed. If I was a “shopper” there, I’d tell them to blow it out their arse.
As I am reading the first paragraph I have a flash intuitive thought…
This will lead to these stores, if they want to stay open, forcing all shoppers to use instacart, private cars, and pay way more for groceries. This because the additional help for store personnel to do the picking, the screening and hiring of drivers, additional computer operators to process the orders and the scheduling, and, of course, the end of paper currency as a medium of exchange.
We will be forced by the breakdown of the social contract, the death of Judeo/Christian morality, and the corruption of the political/legal/judicial institutions into a life that resembles those 15 minute cities everyone is talking about.
Some may think these are the future, and I am terrified that they are right. Orwellian on steroids!
