The relationship between John Wayne’s character and Vera Miles’ character has always fascinated me. I wish Hollywood didn’t suck these days. A miniseries based on the movie could be a real treat if done correctly. Hollywood would ruin it however.
“Vera Miles was fetching, but had off-putting medical practices.”
Only actress who played John Wayne’s niece (The Searchers), love interest (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance), and wife (The Green Berets and The Hellfighters).
They require an age sign-in, which is weird.
Great movie.
“What a goofy movie. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance shot him in the back. Not so brave.”
No, he didn’t. He shot him from an oblique (i.e., from an angle; from in front of Valance, but off to the side).
“Vera Miles was fetching, but had off-putting medical practices.”
Pretty girl in “The Searchers.”
What were her “off-putting” medical practices?
“And Edmond O’Brien, the performance of his career.”
I thought his best performance was in “The Wild Bunch.” Which, incidentally, Strother Martin was also in.
Tom Doniphon: [Valance has tripped Rance in the diner, causing him to spill a tray of food] That's *my* steak, Valance.
Liberty Valance: [laughing] You heard him, Dude. Pick it up.
Ransom Stoddard: No!
Tom Doniphon: Pilgrim, hold it. I said you, Valance; *you* pick it up.
Liberty Valance: Three against one, Doniphon.
Tom Doniphon: My boy, Pompey; kitchen door.
[Valance looks and sees Pompey at the door holding a rifle]
Floyd: I'll get it, Liberty!
[Doniphon kicks Floyd in the face as he bends down to retrieve the tray.
“Sorry, I was thinking of Sarah Miles.”
Ah, yes. She was pretty, as well. But; you’re right about her off-putting health remedies: She drank her own urine for years, claiming it was good for her health.
Classic, classic
