LOL, Michiganders have their own native terminology to categorize you:
Yooper - Someone that lives in the Upper Peninsula of the state (above the 5 mile Mackinac Bridge connecting it to the Lower Peninsula).
Troll (non-internet) - someone that lives in Michigan “below the bridge” (Lower Peninsula).
The two terms keep the friendly rivalry going between the peninsulas.
Yes we have tourists, but there’s also a subset for the Northern Lower Peninsula/Mackinac Island areas called “Fudgies”. They are often attracted to the sweet fudge in the areas, and tend to drive slower than the locals after the sugar buzz wear off. It does sometimes tick the locals off with the extra traffic. If they’d quit baiting, there wouldn’t be an issue (/s).
Yes, I’m in the Troll living space, but feel even more at home as soon as I’ve crossed the bridge into the UP. It’s a very special and beautiful place.
Now, to change gears. We’re still working on election integrity, and have been outing corruptocrats left & right (literally also in the left & in the right). I’ve been helping out with making a District 9 banner for a big media event Wednesday in Macomb county, hopefully it arrives in time. Foldspace would be laughing her arse off at how I’ve had to use MS paint to take a 2200 x 2900 PNG fuzzy web image and cleanup the graphic resolution and DPI almost bit by bit to make a 21600 x 21600 JPEG for a media backdrop. Quite a lot of time spent on it, but we charge ahead.
So far we’ve done major cleanup on the state level GOP, and at least two districts seem to be back under control of patriots. We’ve also been working on school boards, mainly in exposing the corruption to the public where we can.

Last time I was in that area for any length of time at all was....geez back before ‘Nam.
The UP really is a special place. I vacationed there 3 or 4 times several years back, when I lived near Cleveland.

I went to the Marlborough, (M)assachusetts La...I mean, Union Day parade. It’s a big parade and lots of politicians show up. RFK II had a contingent there although, as usual, he didn’t show up in person. They had signs saying something no more division. That’s going to play well. But the Democrats are corrupt idiots and will blow it.
One year I gave major crap to Ed Markey. Ice Cream Man himself. Liz Warren showed up once and learned her lesson. Where we go to watch the parade is a biker bar. Great people and very vocal. This year maybe a quarter showed up. Very odd as well as depressing.
This may be the last time we go as we’re planning on being in NH by this time next year full time.
This was the first year in many I drove home sober. My wife was worse than I was. I was a trained professional. I guess you never really lose skills you’ve earned.
