It's a bit more complex than that.
Over the past 50 years, the majority of our illegal immigrants are Catholic, and they fit in with a Judeo-Christian overlay. But the majority of our legal immigrants are Buddhist and Muslim.
The Buddhists aren't a problem because they don't proselytize. They play well with others.
The Muslims, however, are a challenge. They may find a way to fit in, with Chrislam being a possible middle way. Or they may find a moderate form of Islam. Or they may try to create a Judeo-Christian-Islamic overlay.
It's going to be an interesting century, testing the Amercian tradition of pluralism.
