Trump asks for classified documents trial to be delayed until after 2024 election

In a motion filed late Wednesday evening, Trump’s lawyers said prosecutors have “failed to make very basic arrangements” to allow their legal team to review the classified materials in the case, which is part of a basic pre-trial process called discovery.
For example, his attorneys said that the office of special counsel Jack Smith, who is overseeing the case, has offered to let them view some of the documents in Washington, D.C., but there are additional materials in Florida. Trump’s legal team cannot review all of the materials together and has “no way of transporting classified notes” and other materials related to the case, his attorneys wrote.
