good morning, train family!!! ( I started this at 10:00 a.m. I'm just now finishing it. I better quit making fun of some older friends I know that seem to take forever to do things.)

these 5 week old kittens and mom (already responds to Missy) will show up today. I'll play with them (I mean social them), get all their medical done, and they'll be up for adoption locally in December.

But they need names! I have to make an appointment first thing in the morning for their spay and neuter in November. And they're going to make me give them names.

there were three house cows, three voids. Apparently that's how they color kittens these days. I've also heard the black ones called house panthers. But somebody adopted one already, I wish they would give it back, it's only 5 weeks old.

I started reading my cat clicker training book, I had forgotten all about how I did this with cotton. But it says clicker training is more of a bargain than training. Unless they are training us, which could be more like it. When cotton wanted a treat she would go through all of her tricks.

Which brings us back to cats.

Have you ever tried to get a cat to do something? Anything at all? Out of pure principle, they will reject your command — even if they know full well it will benefit them.

Because above all else, above even their personal welfare, cats value freedom.

How else to explain that cats will spend all day looking out the window, but then if you put a leash on them to take them out, they’ll drop to the floor and scowl at you as if you were worst thing possible —perhaps an auditor from the Internal Revenue Service.

While we’re on the topic, cats would never pay taxes. Taxes are for suckers, they’d tell you.

But put a leash on the dog, and he’ll happily trot out the door and go wherever you take him.

This is really why cats hiss at dogs – not because dogs chase them.

My cats watch me endlessly throwing a tennis ball for my border collie – supposedly the smartest dog – and sneer with contempt. Such mindless obedience to a task. Such desperation to please. Disgusting.

Unlike dogs, cats have not had the ability to hunt bred out of them. I mean dogs can hunt, but only to chase their prey up a tree.

Cats finish the job. They are natural proponents of the Second Amendment. If they could get their paws around a trigger, they’d shoot to kill. Dogs are born skeet shooters - fishermen who throw their catch back in the lake.

What’s more, cats would gladly enforce the death penalty. Particularly for dogs.

Cats favor a foreign policy that is so assertive they sometimes need to be declawed. Dogs run together in a U.N.-style “dog park,” where they willingly submit to an overseeing body of owners whom they charge with keeping the peace.

But cats are to the left dogs when it comes to the environment. Just watch how they carefully cover up their business in their sandboxes, keeping everything fresh and nice. Dogs will – how shall we say – pollute right in your front lawn.

This doesn’t make dogs Republicans or cats Democrats. It just means that sometimes they can see the other side’s point.

Which of course makes them each wiser than their elected representatives in Washington

Well, I just looked at their Board of Advisors and I don’t recognize many, if any, other than Dan Crenshaw! Not a good sign. He must be the mole.

Speaking of decorating, I think I'm ready for the wee ones.

I went in the basement and got their bags of food. The last mama ate the Purina sensitive tummy, and I think it will be good to transition if we don't know what they had been feeding them. I always hate when they show up without any food that I can transition from, but for strays I guess any food is good. Although the Blountville sheriff's department has been taken care of them, so they've probably been well looked after.



I think we're ready, got toys , got things to climb on!



Here are the two warming things, the house warms up on the right side and that pad warms up when they sit on it. Barely warm though, my husband thinks they'll end up inside at the first sign of cold. I don't know why he gets that idea. I promised him they'd stay on the porch but I did have my fingers crossed.






But speaking of decorating, when we did errands yesterday my friend found these adorable Tuscan coffee cups for $1.20 each. She's so sweet, she let me keep both of them. They go with some of the rest of my kitchenware. I love a good deal!

That Camel wasn’t giving up. I wonder what he was thinking he was doing? They use donkeys, or maybe it’s mules, to protect the cattle around here. Apparently their Hooves can be quite deadly.

I don’t know anything about the mom, but since the sheriff department named her I imagine she might be friendly? They did tell the rescue lady that she’s had three or four litters. Wish they had called her earlier

Yeah one of the black and white has to be Oreo. Maybe Oreo1 and Oreo2. Ghirardelli Dark is kind of a long name. I guess I should think of cookies, we already did chocolate.
