I am not a theologian. But, have often heard, that God’s word and Jesus’ teachings are unchanging, and not subject to change as appears to be the view of this Pope.
Is there room for new interpretations of Scripture? I am not a theologian so can’t comment on that. But on what basis does he say the theology can just change to accomodate homosexuality and global warming or anything else?
There is no “new interpretation”. What Scripture plainly says, it plainly says. There are several warnings about trying to change the words, in the text.
There’s a difference between gradual and reasonable development of doctrine, and wholesale dismantling of Church teaching on faith and morals.
A huge difference.
Bergoglio's use of the word "backward," "evolution," and "reactionary" reveal his thinking. Whether he admits to be a Marxist or not, it doesn't matter - he's got the quintessential Marxist, post-modern thinking of Marxist teleology and historical materialism - that culture, history and society are scientifically moving to some pre-destined moral, political, historical destination.
The basis of being a practicing homosexual?
Just guessing. Because it sure doesn't sound like what real Christian clergy would say. It sounds like what a fake clergy pushing a homosexual agenda would say.
The need for the cross can never be changed nor is subject to re-interpretation. The Fact of the empty grave and the resurrection can never be changed nor is subject to reinterpretation. The declaration that Christ is come as God in the flesh cannot be disputed. All things that look like a new teaching or interpretation must pass through those filters. If anything or any new teaching by men or “spirits” that appears fresh and new should clash with those filters, then the “new thing’ must be discarded and seen as ‘antichrist”!
