A special agent with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is dead after being accidentally shot by another IRS agent during a training exercise Thursday at a federal gun range in Phoenix, officials confirmed.
On Friday, IRS officials identified the victim as 47-year-old Patrick Bauer, a longtime Arizona resident. He was a retired master sergeant with the Arizona Air National Guard and served with the 161st Air Refueling Wing Security Forces Squadron, the National Guard said in an email...

Special agents with the FBI’s Phoenix field office are investigating the shooting. “The FBI’s investigation will be methodical and thorough to address every element of the incident,” an emailed statement said. Those findings will then be turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (District of Arizona) for review.
The special agents involved in Thursday’s shooting were part of the IRS’s Criminal Investigations unit with the Phoenix Field Office.

IRS agents should not be armed. They are not law enforcement. They are taxers.
Oh, darn.
Trust them. They are from the government and here to help.
I know this is going to sound extreme, and a little unfair. And to some degree it is. I think we reach that point in this country. In any case my thoughts are if you’re in the IRS you are either one of the bad guys or you are a collaborator.
Put guns in the hands of incompetent people and BINGO.
I never knew Alec Baldwin worked for the IRS.
Whistleblower?
Interesting that the IRS is hiring former military and training them in firearms. Like they are planning for war against Americans.
“IRS agents should not be armed. They are not law enforcement. They are taxers.”
And they work for an unconstitutional agency that is the collection arm for the international bankers the run the Fed. They’ve been farming us since their inception and the new armed agents are to keep us in line until they completely destroy the middle class.

IRS is not unconstitutional. The Income Tax Amendment to the Constitution empowered it under the “necessary and proper” and it has nothing to do with international bankers.
It’s perfectly fine to hate the IRS and the income tax. But we need to maintain historical reality. The Income Tax Amendment was OVERWHELMINGLY popular (obviously, as an amendment) and settled a long festering problem of tariff allocation that constantly pitted different states and interest groups against each other.
I would far prefer a fair tax, that would be collected by a tiny remnant of the IRS. But it’s not happening.
Best History Lesson of the day!.
Armed tax collectors is the reason the United States came into existence.

I searched for “IRS” in the title, and nothing came up.
Unfortunately, 3 letters don’t activate FR search.
‘Agent’, by contrast, when the default search is changed from Keyword to Title, yields

Awkward, for sure, but does work.
I wonder if their “red flags” are automatically lifted if they are hired by the IRS.

Okay, I learned something new. I had assumed that if I type “IRS” for Title, then any article with “IRS” in the title would come up.
Must have been a Tackleberry wanna be.
IRS huh? There had to be so many potential suspects on the range.
