Some of my taste and smell has returned after 2 years but don’t think I’ll ever regain it all.
Find a way to take in some supplemental pure oxygen. Couple times a day for 1/2 hour or so each time. It doesn’t get a lot of conversation but it was identified early on as one way to combat and repair covid damage. Actual covid damage starts in the alveoli in the lungs, screws up the blood chemistry with free iron, then starts messing with brain cells——then the liver, down to the kidneys , and so on down. It has to be that interference with the brain that messes up senses and Oxygen has always helped recovery. Notably, oxygen can really speed up recovery from anesthesia. In the same fashion it can help greatly with covid damage.
Bottled oxy is great if available. Concentrators are good also and can be readily gotten. It doesn’t have a down side and it might surprise what it might otherweise help? Don’t bother asking your pet Quack about it. Their bleepholes turn ingrown when it comes to using oxy for recovery. But if you do, and you’re a senior, you might be able to get a prescription that will defray the cost from your local industrial/medical gas vendor.
My son lost olfactory but not taste decades ago when he worked with an asphalt company. Any way to improve that? Like Mulder said, the truth is out there…
I wonder if there is a way to contact the FLCC doctors. Maybe they know of something.
With L-arginine (and niacin), my sense of taste came back in less than a week after I picked up "COVID" in June 2022.
