Mount Everest. In Nepal, where it is, it’s called Sagarmatha. In most Sanskrit based languages [even most European languages have many Sanskrit derived words], “th” is pronounced as “t” with an “h” sound right after. As though anyone could care haha. The idea that George Everest “discovered” it is stupid. People in the Indian continent knew of its existence for thousands of years!

“Sagarmatha” is a Nepalese word meaning “forehead in the sky.” The Tibetans refer to the Sagarmatha Mountain as “Chomolungma” which means “Mother of the World.” George Everest, a surveyor in India from 1830 to 1843, discovered the mountain in the year 1841. Mount Everest is estimated to be 60 million years old. is a much nicer name.
