Oliver A sure looks Scots Irish. I read Jim Webb’s book about the Scots Irish in America. One thing I remember is that he said the Scots Irish clans were the most welcoming group to outsiders in terms of bringing them into the “family”. Make of that what you will but I see it in my great big SI family. That is probably where that comment came from.
The other thing he said was that Scots Irish were sent to settle the frontier borders and to fight the Indians so the English on the Eastern settlements wouldn’t have to. He made the point today that a large number SI join the military to fight the wars. Most of the other things he said were about himself but those things stuck with me.
Interesting. My ancestors are mostly SI. No red hair, though!
