This is interesting. Google maps has pics up of the burned up homes in Maui.

This is the location of the red roof house. Street view shows he put a new roof recently. I notice palm trees everyplace except his home.

This place points out why palm trees are more prone to fire problems.
I personally seen a palm tree on fire it went up like a dried out christmas tree.

Quick search for a palm tree fire.
Note how fast that tree lit up. This one must have been scary

That looked like a Windmill Palm that caught fire (shape of the leaves and duff around the trunk) https://www.plantingtree.com/blogs/gardening/windmill-palm-tree-for-sale

Coconut Palms are a little different - smooth trunks, most of the easily burnable stuff is near the top. https://www.fast-growing-trees.com/products/coconut-palm-tree?variant=13940849016884

There was recently a palm tree fire in my town. It was on a lot with two abandoned houses and was extremely overgrown. Those things lit off like fireworks and by the time it was over, the two houses had burned down and four neighboring ones damaged. I still suspect some real estate developer lit those things up…it’s in a very old and desirable part of town on nice big lots in what used to be part of an orange grove.
