"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.,"We can't save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy." "This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense." "...war comes not when the forces of freedom are strong, but when they are weak." As the days go by, and trillions are frittered away, we become weaker. Not stronger.
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter with a half-million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. . . . This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."President Eisenhower, 16 April 1953.

Ronald Reagan, Republican National Convention, July 17 1980.
" 'We can't save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy,' he said in his floor remarks. 'Americans are feeling the pain and Congress seems content on adding to that pain by shuffling money out the door as fast as they can.' He noted that adding to the billions the U.S. has given to Ukraine since 2014, Congress will have authorized some $60 billion in total spending to the country. Let's put $60 billion into perspective, he said. 'Ukraine would become the largest annual recipient of U.S. military aid in the past two decades.' He noted that international partners and allies were stepping up, sending unprecedented amounts of weapons and aid to Ukraine at this time. 'It's not all about us, it isn't that we always have to be the Uncle Sam, the policeman who saves the world, particularly when it's on borrowed money,' he added. 'America can't afford to be world's policeman."

Against our GDP of about $25 trillion:
$ 32,720,707,254,523 of debt and rapidly rising.
And "CBO projects a federal budget deficit of $1.4 trillion for 2023."
Eisenhower vigorously opposed Communists and the enemies of our country so don’t feed me that. As far as Reagan said that is right we have to have strength to oppose our enemies and Russia is an enemy. We are not dooming the US economy by supporting Ukraine. We conservatives have always stood for a strong national defense. When we don’t have enemies then we can relax and Russia is very possibly the last enemy.
We cannot leave NATO as long as Russia is still an active enemy. After Russia is dealt with if it is dealt with then we will no longer need NATO (I hope).
Not supporting Ukraine is penny wise and pound foolish. Because you are going to spend more money down the road. They are jut going to attack other countries and we will be having to ante up again and maybe this time have to fight.
