A few days ago, I commented dryly on an FR article describing nuclear power as 'clean' energy, noting that it wasn't clean when Fukushima blew nuclear core material into the air, soil and water. Same with Chernobyl.
My comment triggered the wrath of pro nuke peeps - who quickly and repeatedly demanded the subject of my comments become focused coal fuel (it's a nuke lobby thing, change the subject to solar/wind/coal and never discuss nuke).
When I recognized stale old arguments, including the assertion that I should be more concerned about kitty litter and granite counter tops (seriously - they meant it, well they wanted me to think that it was legit), I had enough nonsense and bowed out, not wishing to waste my time. One advocate kept after me, taunting me and demanding I respond, telling me to compare/contrast alternative fuels etc. and asking me if I was equally afraid of sunshine I received during a day at the beach etc.
Oh and a key to his argument was to repeatedly talk about my emotions, fears. He never would acknowledge that I could have based my comment on anything other than 'hysterical' over reaction due to ignorance. He'd ask what influenced my emotions to have such 'fears' etc.
So today's 'coincidence' made me cringe for more than one reason. *cringe* So the WEF is all about Hawaiian energy. They almost had a 5 year delta...
